We compare the Avalon by Bragada to teh Tempur-Pedic Deluxe Bed. CoolTemp™ Memory Foam is 5.3lb density foam. For comparison purposes, Tempur-Pedic is also 5.3lb foam. No - we've designed the Avalon with a 1/2 of Memory Foam right into the quilting. As soon as you lie down on the Avalon, you immediately feel the Memory Foam Properties. Besides the 9.5 inches in foam layers, natural quilting and the cover make up the additional 1.5 inches. Bragada's exclusive MagicMiddle™ lumbar support adds back support where you need it most, around your butt area. This helps take pressure off your spine while you sleep, and releives your back from aches and pains. It is a viscoelastic, temperature sensitive material, quite different from ordinary foam. Viscoelastic describes the property of a substance to both resist flow or change of shape (viscous) and to return to its original shape after being forced to change (elastic). An imperfect version of viscoelastic material was developed for NASA in the 1970s, designed specifically to conform to any individual's body and relieve the pressure of the tremendous forces of gravity the astronauts experienced during lift off and flight. Like so many NASA technologies, the formula was eventually released to the public. In 1993, Bragada introduced CoolTemp™ viscoelastic pressure relieving material, a vastly improved reinvention of the original NASA formula for home and medical use. Unlike memory foam, CoolTemp® viscoelastic material is extremely dense--there are simply more cells per square inch than in most viscoelastic foams. Furthermore, the cells themselves are extremely dense and consistently shaped. The greater density allows for greater sensitivity of the material, and is more durable preventing the "bottoming out" that can occur in less dense material. |
